Mount Washington

Mount Washington, located in New Hampshire's White Mountains, is the tallest peak in the northeastern United States, standing at 6,288 feet. Known for its unpredictable and often extreme weather, it once held the world record for the highest wind speed ever recorded at the surface—231 mph. The summit offers panoramic views of the surrounding ranges and can be reached by hiking, driving the scenic Mount Washington Auto Road, or riding the historic Cog Railway. It's a popular destination for adventurers and nature lovers, combining dramatic landscapes with rich natural and geological history.

Franconia Notch State Park

Franconia Notch State Park, nestled in New Hampshire's White Mountains, spans an 8-mile stretch of Interstate 93 between the Kinsman and Franconia ranges. This scenic mountain pass offers a wealth of natural attractions, including the Flume Gorge, an 800-foot chasm with towering granite walls, and Echo Lake, ideal for swimming and canoeing. The park was once home to the iconic Old Man of the Mountain, a granite cliff formation that collapsed in 2003 but remains a symbol of New Hampshire. Visitors can explore miles of hiking and biking trails, fish in Profile Lake, and ride the aerial tramway to the summit of Cannon Mountain, which also hosts a state-owned ski resort. With its diverse recreational opportunities and stunning landscapes, Franconia Notch State Park is a year-round destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
